Is there anyplace to purchase metal dowels in person? Looking in the Collin County area (or North Dallas County, or East Denton County).

I have a bookshelf that I purchased a few years ago where a dowel has gone missing, and I no longer have the instructions to put it together or the email order for the exact product description to contact the original manufacturer.

Not really fond of trying to measure and order, or else I am apt to find I'm ignorant of some convention and have to order up and down to ensure proper fit.

Home Depot has a bin of metal pieces that include angles, channel and I think dowels. Have you checked there or a hardware store?

Are you talking about a shelf pins?

Are you talking about the ones on which the shelf panel rests?

Something like this?

If yes you can get it in any big box stores.

Do you have a picture of the other dowels that you have on the shelf?

I just looked a bit ago out of curiosity.

Lowes at Forest and Inwood has both shelf pins of course and 36" long metal dowels in several sizes.

So my guess is all Lowes will have similar stock.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I had previously looked online for both Home Depot and Lowes and saw wooden dowels in stock, and an option for ordering for Home Depot. Also, thanks for the naming update, it was helpful in finding the right area to look in the store. Sometimes help is hit or miss at some of these shops. Some of the parts are split among multiple sections.
