I am a first-time home owner and a 42-year-old life-long bachelor. I own a 2500 square foot house and I want to begin by furnishing the two living rooms.

I do not wish to make a structural changes, flooring changes, paint changes, or anything like that at this time, just furnishings for the moment. Something to make the living room functional and an awesome place in which I can entertain. I am more of a minimalist and like lots of open space and I really like modern Asian design. I do not host cocktail parties or reading groups. When I have anyone over it is usually one or two people at a time.

I would like recommendations on an interior decorator. I am also looking for someone to help me one room at a time –the first room is this room (I’ve attached some photos). The room is roughly 23 feet by 13 feet with entrances into the front foyer and the kitchen.

I think you should get a fun accent chair piece. Some dim lighting and a nice console table to give it that modern Asian design without it being overly crowded. Get a couple of larger wall hangings so that the walls aren’t as bare. And clean up the wiring on the computer desk. The bookcase looks empty! Maybe update the bookcase to a clean white or all black bookcase. They sell some at ikea that are affordable. There are many ideas on Pinterest that I think would work well. You have an awesome space to work with!
