I live in Flower Mound and I know of 8 families that live here but send a child to Booker T. My husband also has a work colleague who lives in Frisco who sends their child there too.

That shouldn't be allowed. Those people should move to the DISD attendance zone if they want to take advantage of DISD's magnet schools.

A SEM parent told me that administration favors kids coming from Dallas ISD over other districts IF they are qualified. Unfortunately, folks from other districts rent cheap apartments to have their kids apply as local applicants and most of the time kids coming from strong districts are more qualified so district turns a blind eye and admits them. He himself commutes from Coppell, which he considers overrated. According to him, students from many district are gaming the system at magnet schools.

This is so unfortunate, Dallas ISD should do something about it, there aren’t many opportunities at that district and letting non-residents snatch ones available from the reach of locals is atrocious.

And we wonder why we live in a society where people don't care what the law is or who gets hurt, so long as I get what I want and I can get away with it without being caught.

I think the district probably does care but doesn't have the financial resources to hunt down every violator. If DISD parents kicked up more of a fuss, they might tighten enforcement. They definitely won't care what some dude in Collin County thinks, though. (Or some chick in Richardson, for that matter.)
