In looking at neighborhoods to move to that are situated near White Rock Lake, I came upon Casa Linda Estates. It is difficult to tell what an area is truly like just by driving through. Is Casa Linda safe, clean, etc.? And what is the general culture of the area? Any information would be appreciated.

Cool neighborhood with excellent location.
Houses will typically be in the 1940s to 1950s era.
All kind of mixed culture due to the age of the area.
You'll have newer younger residents and probably original owners.
You're on the edge of wealth there ....as you see the homes along Garland Ave overlooking the lake could well be close to $1mil and the edge of poverty as you move east and south.
I like that the houses are further apart, have bigger yards, have more character and uniqueness to them than newer dallas neighbohoods. They just don't build them like that any more.

Great area with large lots. A concern in this area is schools. The zoned schools are not very well rated which leads to people either choosing to live somewhere else or choosing private. While you are on the edge of wealth, there is a lot of poverty which (typically) leads to poorer performing schools.

Hi! I live in this general area and love it. It's a super convenient neighborhood - easy to get downtown without taking the highway, and it's close to grocery shopping, restaurants, the Arboretum, and the lake. We know a lot of our neighbors, and the local city council member lives in Casa Linda and sends his kids to the neighborhood schools. There is pretty substantial support for Sanger Elementary (that's what you'd be zoned to if you're south of Buckner), especially from younger parents. I don't know much about Reinhardt (north of Buckner), but have heard there is an active PTA there as well.

Generally, I see a lot of people out walking dogs, taking kids to the playground, biking, etc. It's a friendly neighborhood - a lot of people garden and there's a popular garden tour every spring. Chickens always seem to be getting out and wandering into people's yards. The neighborhood association does a luminary event every year around Christmas where they put out thousands of luminaries to light the streets at night. Other than the standard petty theft (like people stealing a laptop out of an open car), it's pretty safe. As you'd do living anywhere else within city limits, just take some basic precautions to protect your possessions, and you'll be fine.

Thank you for those thoughts on the area. That is a great help. I personally prefer smaller homes and more character to an area so it sounds as if Casa Linda will be a good fit.

Give it a hard look I'd be really surprised if you don't like.
