I'll have an 18 month old next August that I'd like to enroll in some half-day MDO type programs. I'd like to do two half-days per week and have narrowed it down to UP methodist and Temple Emanu-el. We live by both of them and both seem to have good programs.

Temple Emanu-El is significantly more expensive than UP Methodist though i.e. ~$7k for 9 months vs. $4.5k for 12 months. Does anyone know why this might be the case and if it's really worth the extra $$?

FWIW, we aren't Christian or Jewish, but have no problem with our child participating in the religious programs, as long as people are inclusive.

Any and all thoughts around the cost and each of these programs are appreciated!

Thanks!

I don't know why the difference in cost but I do know that both are very popular. My dd attended Preston Hollow Presbyterian MDO (and preschool) many years ago, another popular program but a little farther away from you, also excellent. We are also not religious.

The UPUMC program runs Sept - May, it is not 12 months. I don’t know why there is such a big price difference. I had two children at UPUMC and It was a good experience. Temple Emanuel is also highly regarded. It can be difficult to get into the toddler program at UPUMC if you are not a church member. Not sure about the other, but most people
I know applied to multiple programs to ensure they got in somewhere, especially if they are not a member anywhere. Good luck!

Temple Emanu-El is not an MDO. It's the closest thing to a Reggio school in Dallas. Even though it's not discussed much on this board, many regard it as one of the top preschools in the city. There are very few programs that are a "school" for 18 month olds, you might compare the price to the 18month programs at Alcuin for example.
