There is nothing wrong with going online to meet people. Online dating exponentially increases the odds of meeting someone that a person is compatible with, as it's possible to go through dozens of profiles every week or even hundreds. The only issue with online dating are people out there who stupid, naive and don't know how to spot fake profiles or know when they are being gamed by someone. Then, after they've been had, chewed up and spit out, they go around telling everyone how terrible that online dating is and that it's "all a scam."
After 30, for both sexes, it does become more difficult to meet other people in person. However, that level of difficulty hardly justifies using a dating site or app (more likely an app now if you are in your 30s), because apps are only illusion. The illusion exists that a person is using time well. A lot of things fall apart when two people from a swipe & text app meet in person. Although no one can replicate the volume of interactions on an app from doing things in-person, in-person interactions prior to setting up a formal date are both more efficient and effective. A good pre-date in-person interactions enhances the chances of a good first date. A so-so or bad in-person interaction saves the potential of wasting time on a date. This sort of thing just doesn't happen with the swipe & text apps, or websites for the older people.

There are plenty of places to meet singles in person for setting up future dates

1. Gym/fitness classes
2. Grocery store
3. Mall stores/book stores
4. Coffee shops
5. Meetup groups (overrun with older singles)
6. Co-ed sports leagues
7. Bars
8. Pretty much any public place not mentioned above

Not all of these options are good ones and are up for debate.
