Hello,

I am going to move to Dallas in July. I am looking for a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment. My budget for rent will be between $1,000 to $1,200 per month.

I would like to know which suburbs of Dallas are the safest places to live, given my rent budget, also, I am looking for something that is not more than 30 min drive to Downtown.

This is going to be my first time in Dallas so security is the most important thing for me, given that my wife is going to be by her self all day long.

Thanks.

Can you give some more details of the type of area you would like to live in? Near nature and outdoorsy? Lots of retail centers? Good schools? Etc.,

I would like something close to restaurants and parks, something outdoorsy would be great but It is not a priority, I dont have kids so schools are not a problem, we are 30 years old so I am looking for some place that we can walk and go out at night and have a good dinner and feel safe

Uptown would be best but will be more expensive.

Addison and Las Colinas are also good as well.

$1000-1200 for a 2br is limiting in DFW. Most 1br are around the $1000 mark. But you should be able to find something for $1200 in a place like Arlington or Irving.

The last time I looked, most 2br apartments in safe areas of Dallas were more than $1200/mo

You might look at the Village. This is a cluster of apartments north of downtown. It is pretty central for commuting to downtown along with restaurants, etc. along Greenville Ave.

The Irving and The Village are the best options in my opinion.

If you are willing to get a 1 bedroom, you could find a place in Las Colinas that would allow you to walk to the train station and take Dart downtown to work. Also, with the new music factory there are several new restaurants and bars that opened in the area with more opening all the time.

You could easily take the train to Basketball and Hockey games, or out to drinks and back or snag an uber back if you say out late.

It certainly isn't uptown but it is a cheaper and has good transit access.

That is the main downside of the Village, transit isn't as good there, and it isn't as walk-able in general.
