Have you tried Pier I? They were having a 50% off sale this week. Another thought would be Kirklands for less expensive items. There is another store off Dallas North Parkway that I can not for the life of me think of its name. It is located close to the Galleria and is on the service road on the east side of the tollroad.

Horschow Collection is a catalog for home furnishings that is affiliated with Neiman Marcus. They have a couple of retail outlets in Dallas where their stuff is deeply discounted. It's very high quality. Mostly traditional, but not always. They usually have sales going on and I'm sure they have some pretty good sales at this time of year. There is a location near SMU on Mockingbird just west of I-75. The other location is at Inwood Village on Lovers Lane just west of the N. Dallas toll road. For posters, you should check out Z Gallery on the NE corner of Knox St. @ McKinney Ave.

Ya Pier 1 is good for stuff like that. My wife knows several other places, so I will ask her and get back with you.

HomeGoods, I know of 2 locations. Coit and Campbell or on 407 and 2499 in Highland Village.

I like artsy modern decor as well and I LOVE Z Gallerie!!!! Right across from Crate and Barrell. Also love Home Goods but have not been to any in this area.

Also, don't forget Ebay! I am a fan of midcentury modern and a lot of my furnishings and decor at my old apt were purchased on ebay and I have also sold a lot of modern decor on there myself but not so much lately.

If your looking for posters also try Hobby Lobby. Other good decor stores are Hemispheres, Kirklands, Z Gallerie, Homegoods, Tuesday Morning (have to watch but can find some awesome pieces here), Anderson's and even Weir's.
