I was looking at a map and noticed that some parts of Murphy are about as far from the Plano Park and Ride as the Garland one. However, from what I can tell on the schedule, the ride from parker road is about 50 min while the ride from Garland is only 25 min. Does anybody drive from Murphy to Garland to take the train? I know Garland has its good places and its bad places, how is the area around the station? Do the lots fill up later than the Plano lots? Any information you would have would be greatly appreciated!

I don't take DART too often anymore, but DH does some. We're in Murphy and he bounces between the two depending on what he's doing before/after his trip.

The Garland DART station is the last stop (for now) but isn't on a major highway like the Parker Rd one is so it's not quite as busy. I've left my car in the lot many times and it's just fine. Downtown Garland is older, but it's not unsafe right around there.

From Murphy I'd take Murphy Rd to 78 and take that to downtown Garland. Right before you go under the over pass (Walnut) there's a street called Walnut Cir. Take a right there and it'll take you to Walnut and then another right and you almost right there.

I lived in north Garland for 12 years and worked in downtown Garland for the last 2. It took me less than 20 minutes to get to work and that was a few blocks further than the DART station. And I've been downtown all hours of the day and late into the night without any real fear. Cautiousness, yes, fear, no.

It's faster because there's a lot less stops until you hit Mockingbird Station. 11 versus 4 stations.
