I have lived in Wylie for about three years. Every Spring, when I open the windows for some cool fresh air, I am reminded of a particularly FOUL odor that comes through on occasion. It literally wakes me up in the middle of the night. I have never smelled anything like it. I have pretty much ruled out any type of fertilizer, as it doesn't smell like any fertilizers I have experienced in the past, living near farms in other states and, Collin County has few active farms remaining. It is a very harsh chemical odor that I cannot even begin to describe. It usually will last for a few hours and be gone but, will reoccur every few weeks for a couple of nights. Does anybody have any insights or, have experienced this? I love to keep the windows open when it's not too hot but this smell is over powering! thanks

Could be the compost or mulch that the city/HOA/home owners put around plants and in flower beds.

Parts of Murphy Road have new mulch in the medians and smell as well as the intersection of Central and Spring Creek.

I actually like the smell of mulch and “natural” fertilizers. This is a strong chemical smell, cannot imagine its source is organic.

In 11 years living in Murphy I have never heard anyone mention the smell in Wylie. This is a new one.

I heard something on radio about stench from Hinton Landfill a while ago, can't recall if it was Garland or Wylie.

I’m off of Parker, close to Lucas. The odor is intermittent. Last night, no issues but, when it blows through I don’t see how anyone could miss it.
