Twice a year Austin has music festivles. You could drive down to Austin and attend those. 6th street is tons of fun on Halloween and probably on other holidays too. Other than that Austin is lame.

how does dallas have more entertainment than austin?

is there anywhere in dallas where they have to block of a district of streets around every weekend as a result foot traffic and pedestrians going to and fro from one venue or store to another?

C'mon! It has big tex, and corn dogs, and 20 dollar in ground parking, and corn dogs, and games, and I pretty much go for the corn dogs, lol.

Don't forget the "Fried Coke"! You can't forget that!

Fried Coke is just what it sounds like. Lots of batter, oil, and sugar. Basically like a Soda-based funnel cake or doughnut. Tasty, though! Found among lots of fried and battered things at the State Fair in October of each year!

Yeah, I'll have to give Big D the edge in airport (great! hub of the country), size and diversity... but honestly, only 2 festivals in Austin per year?

C'mon. There is some sort of music festival every weekend in Austin, it's just that two of them are so big and hyped up! For a typical Austinite, there is never a lack of entertainment -- just a difficult choice of where to go! We have, by far, the most thriving downtown scene anywhere in the state. And it's just getting bigger with all the new DT residents.

Austin is not for everyone, clearly, and typically Austinites don't fall over themselves to invite people to move down (in fact, they probably would rather people stopped moving down there)... so, that might be why the responses aren't pouring in on the Austin board.

Anyway, take your pick -- Dallas is the big city, and Austin is the mid-size metro. I've lived in both, and like both for different reasons. It all depends on what you are looking for. Good luck either way.

Many times on Lower Greenville, in Deep Ellum, Victory Park, The West End and on Cedar Springs. They should also probably do so on Main Street in Downtown, Bishop Arts in Oak Cliff and definitely along Knox-Henderson (mostly Henderson) which converges with Lower Greenville near Ross.

Thank GOD that doesn't happen too often in Dallas.

There is enough entertainment on Cedar Springs and Greenville avenue. Near Deep Ellum too.

Not to mention all the big concert venues and music festivles that happen around dallas areas.

I thought Deep Ellum was "dead" now? I'm still trying to find out how nightlife in D/FW compares to Atlanta, where I live now. From what I've heard about TX, Austin and Houston are the "party" cities, and Dallas is the more button up "we don't party cause we get up early Sunday morning to go to church" city.

DM is "direct message" it's a private message system. If you click on my name, you'll get a list of options, that being one of them.
