So, I’m going to soon be moving to Dallas from Phoenix (where I’ve lived all my life) in another month with work and I’m just wondering if anyone can help with what are good / bad areas to live? I’m a single guy in my early 30’s who swims a lot (so I'd need to find a good gym / lap pool too" and my work has three locations in the Dallas area. One in Downtown, one in Richardson, and one in a place called Grand Prairie. I won’t know until next month which office I’ll be in yet.

But I’ll be driving to Dallas next week to look around for a few days and get a feel of the area. I’ve never been to Dallas before, unless you count changing planes once at Love Field lol. I’m looking forward to moving to a new city. Dallas seems like a nice place to live. Any advice on neighborhoods, nightlife, commutes, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks.

Single guy, early 30s, I would do Uptown or that general area.

Well where you live will depend heavily on which office you get placed if you don't want a hellish commute. For a young single guy the downtown office would be best for you. Grand Prairie and Richardson are suburban/families.

While you are here, I would check out these areas near downtown:

Uptown
Knox/Henderson, Lower Greenville
Deep Ellum
Bishop Arts District/North Oak Cliff
S Lamar/Cedars Area

You can also check out Grand Prairie and Richardson to see compare.

Thank you for the advice. I will definitely check those areas out while I am in town.
