Let's hope not. We don't need to set any records.
I totally agree. Much of the country is significantly hotter than normal for this time of year. I DREAD a long, hot summer but frankly after several pleasant summers here in NE Texas, we're due for a scorcher.

No rain in sight either. I feel a big water bill coming on.

Calling for 105 and 43% rh. Run the numbers.
As EDS_ mentioned, relative humidity is inversely related to temperature. So when the temperature is highest, the relative humidity is lowest, and vice versa. The "43%" is referring to the daily average relative humidity, which factors in both the minimum and maximum relative humidity values.

No they don't, unless you think that average summer lows around 80F and above are cool:

In contrast, average summer lows in Dallas are in the mid 70s:

Sorry but I do understand. And on Saturday if it goes as projected there is a very good chance that Dallas will surpass a 117 or even 120 heat index. 120 requires about 36% RH if the 106 is reached.

Las Vegas tends to reach quite high temperatures in late June and early July. But that is before there is any moisture around. And it actually leads to relative low heat indexes. Higher heat indexes actually occur in second half of July and August with more moisture present. The temperatures however will be in the low 100s. And practically the very hot very dry days are actually more pleasant than the lower but wetter ones.

I’ve never heard of Dallas having heat indices above 120. 110 degrees? Absoultely. 120 degrees? No way.
