God. I just. the thing is it's only going to get worse. Though last year was a bit unusual. Not so many triple digit days, but the weatherman said the average high temp all summer put together was hotter than usual.

Maybe I should just always be glad I am not in Iran or Iraq. It's not over 130, so I shouldn't complain.

Love Field opened in 1974 ('75?). So that's not an incredible amount of history, missing the brutal droughts/heatwaves of the 1950s, The Dust Bowl etc. North Texas suffered through several brutal droughts in the 1800s as well.

Yes. First time I saw one was freshman year of college when one got in my closet, this was my 2nd week in Texas. I went to kill it and it flew onto my face. I screamed like a little girl.

Ever since then I have waged a relentless war on roaches. Woe to the roach that crosses my path. I spare not their women nor their children and I sow salt in their fields.

LOL. I just lay down a barrier spray, but to each their own! Honestly they are harmless. Don't want to nest indoors. Believe it or not I feel bad when I kill them. Hence the barrier spray, because I'm not co-habitating with them.

I recently learned the difference between the water bugs and the tree roaches. I don't kill the tree roaches outside, but my cats can.

One other great place but with problems is Santa Catalina. It is southern CA coast without the June gloom.
So the climate you wished for in Santa Barbara is actually found on Catalina. All sorts of problems with living there though unless filthy rich. Want off or on the island quick the only way is a helicopter...$150 each way. Used to do it sometimes in the summertime and bill my employer...annoyed the hell out of some of the controllers.
I agree Cabo San Lucas has the best climate but I'm talking somewhere in the US.

For comfort the mid California coast is best. For warmth and lack of seasons inland California is nice.

Also, I don't think they film those S. CA scenes in the winter, that's the rainy season, the surf is way too rough. No they film in October when the Santa Anna winds blow and it often gets to 100 degrees at the coast. Great beach weather then.

Nope. No mountains when the Santa Anas blow. For them you need still days in the winter. Remember the winter rains are relatively rare. You can get a bad week...but never a bad month. And a hundred degrees with the Santa Anas blowing is very unusual. Warm but not hot. And actually annoying outside.

Once spent a really tense three hours 5 miles off the coast in the middle of Baja on a small sail boat with gusts getting up over 75 knots. Was at worst warm. Of course it was trying to kill us so we paid attention.

I have a neighbor from Nigeria. He isn't fazed by any of this at all. Where he comes from, droughts meant no food. He keeps me in check when I feel sorry for myself. But I still turned down the a/c another degree. I really do hate this a lot.

No, Dallas-Ft Worth Airport open in the 1970s. Love Field opened in 1913. Remember, JFK flew into Love Field in 1963 when he was assassinated in Dealey Plaza.
