Its a given that the most dangerous areas of the metro will be in the main city but what other cities or areas outside of Dallas city limits have alot of violent crime. I seen that Mesquite, TX got 3 homicides in one week earlier in this month, but I was always told that was one of the nicer areas of Dallas. Can I get a real list of safe suburbs, and not so safe ones

There are many safe areas within the city of Dallas. In fact almost all of the city of Dallas is safe except several areas south of Hwy 30 and the area around Bachman Lake.

The northern sections of the older inner ring burbs — Irving, Garland, Richardson and Carrollton all are desirable areas; same goes for Hurst, Euless and Bedford.

The area around Fair Park is not very safe. South Oak Cliff is a bad area, too.

Outside of Dallas city limits. We all know the dangerous parts of the city.

South Irving is pretty bad. Part of Garland is bad too.
Wilmer and Hutchins are horrible.

Grand Prairie north of I20 is questionable. So is Mesquite, especially the part south of 80. Seagoville is the same.
Balch Springs is as bad as Wilmer.

Grand Prairie/ Arlington along 180 aka Jefferson st., is some of the highest crime areas in the metro plex. All of Mesquite especially south of Hwy 80 is a pit and has never been safe. Anything around Fair Park, anything going down 45 to Wilmer Hutchins. Obviously anything downtown. Pleasant Grove & Balch Springs, anything around Lake June or Dowdy Ferry rd.

DeSoto, Duncanville & Cedar Hill actually are actually not that far down the list despite the socioeconomics & culture of the region. Hispanic parts of Irving will also be bad. General rule of thumb, besides Highland Park is to stay north of 635 if safety is important to you. More money, less diversified, better schools, all lead to being safer .

I wasn't going to say anything since these threads typically end up being nothing but broad-brushing, blanket generalizations, but this is outrageous. So basically the overwhelming majority of Dallas County and most its 2.6 million residents live in dangerous areas that should be avoided, but go north of 635 and everyone is law-abiding and the neighborhoods are all safe. Do you actually believe that?

Oh you just have to laugh at it. I was visiting friends in Frisco and some of their friends were asking where I lived (at that time). When I said south of LBJ they looked horrified. Aren't you scared? For heaven's sake I lived in the Preston Hollow area.

What is the purpose of this thread?

It's not so much the suburb as possibly a section of a suburb as been mentioned above.
