I would NEVER give a cash gift! I think that's tacky. I would select whatever I fit my budget from the wedding registry.

I do not spent $50-100 on an "acquaintance". My friends and family get higher dollar items. Acquaintances don't get much. Nothing wrong with finding the cheaper (less expensive) items on the registry and go that route. $20 item is fine. Don't feel pressured into spending too much on someone you hardly know.
