Hi,

We are relocating from Austin to Dallas by end of October. My work is in Dallas Downtown area. Looking for recommendations to buy a house. Which areas should I look for which have good middle and high schools. Schools in Austin are very competitive so looking for similar environment. Any thoughts on Parker area ? Thank you in advance for guidance.

What's your budget?
How long of a commute are you willing to make?

Parker to downtown shows a 52 minute drive this morning. (@7:43am) School starts in two weeks so I expect traffic may be heavier. There are a few options to take the DART train. It might not be less time, but some people find it less stressful.

I believe Parker feeds to either Plano East or Wylie High school. I think they are both good schools but are not at the top of the list of schools usually considered the best in the area.

What's your budget? How much commute are you willing to take? Are your children involved in particular extra curriculars?

Are you seriously considering commuting from the city of Parker to downtown Dallas? That's just plain nuts.

Right? Just move to Plano and be a little less nuts.

Nope, scratch Frisco off of your list. I've seen it stated on here a few times that you should assume 2-3 minutes per mile. So if you're willing to commute 30-45 minutes, you shouldn't be looking at anything more than 20 miles away from your office. And that's probably being really generous...so maybe 12-15 miles? The most southern point of Frisco, at DNT/121, is about 26 miles from downtown.
