What's this commute like during rush hour M-F and then Sunday mornings? I've been looking in areas around 20-25 miles from North Dallas at 635 / 75 for cheaper housing and I like the layout of Rockwall (specifically the Chandler's Landing area just south of 30 when you enter Rockwall with homes on the pond around 300) but I'm not familiar with the commute to and from an area east of DFW

No. Just no. That commute would be awful. I would estimate at least an hour in traffic each way. There's no direct route, either: 635 to 30, or PGBT to 75, both of which are very crowded with traffic, and PGBT involves paying tolls. 635 is about to be reconstructed from 75 to 30, so that will make that route even worse for the next 4-5 years. You need to limit your search to Dallas and southern Collin Counties if that's where you'll be working.

Sunday mornings would be no problem. There's hardly any traffic.

Probably 20-25 minutes on Sunday mornings but 60+ weekdays during traditional commute times.

Could you elaborate on the reconstruction and what that looks like, or link to where I can read more?

Thanks

I work in that area and have two co workers who commute from Rockwall and another from Fate. It all depends on your tolerance level and flexibility. If you can work 7-4 like my coworkers then your commute can be more like 45 minutes if no accidents. Regular work hours will take over an hour. If you can’t stand a commute longer than 30 minutes then Rockwall won’t work for you
