If you are buying in these zones, know that attending neighborhood schools isn’t a given, expect rezoning at all levels.

Seems being rezoned from a 10 rated school to another 10 rated school nearby isnt that bad. In the case of Spears, Smith is rated higher.

Emerson high school is in McKinney so....

1. Most families prefer same elementary school as other kids in their neighborhood and at a walking distance so it can be an inconvenience and disappointment.

2. It’s Frisco ISD so it matters to buyers house hunting in this district.

If I had kids, this would put me off buying a house in Frisco.

People love riding that band wagon. There are other ISDs better than Frisco. May just not be on news lately. ISD could be phenomenal but they forget its home where education starts.

Also correct.

We moved to Prosper 5 years ago and wanted our daughter to go to Cockrell Elem. She started this year, but during the last 5 years, Whitley Place was built, and now Cockrell is bursting at the seams as all the kids from this new development go to Cockrell as well. There's definitely going to be rezoning going on at some point, Prosper ISD already asked who wanted to go to the new HS vs just forcing everyone to switch, but it still may come to that if not enough people wanted to switch high schools. The middle and elem. schools will follow.

But this is not something new with regards to Frisco. Constant rezoning has been a way of life there for at least 10 years if not longer. The combination of massive growth and really small schools makes it inevitable really.

Depends on what your budget is. I really like Shaddock Creek and Griffin Parc. Starwood is also pretty close to DNT as well. Those neighborhoods are all older and don't have any new construction. Panther Creek/DNT area has a lot of new construction and the houses are really close to DNT, which may or may not be a positive for you.

If you buy in a neighborhood that is built out and isn't surrounded by new houses, there is no more rezoning. We've lived in our current house 10 years (house is 14 years old) and we've never been rezoned.
