I would recommend against Lower Greenville. I know that was the "scene" a few years ago, but now even the SMU kids don't even go there anymore. There's hardly a yuppy crowd, and there's not too many clubs in the area.

Most of the places now are low-rent lounges, or restaurant/bars.

You can hardly move down there it so crowded. Places like snuffers are packed out. The Cavern and Granada Theater. Not to mention all the bars and dance clubs. Also Good Records is a really cool place to buy a record or see a show (for free).

Maybe not as many clubs (Fish Dance type places) as there used to be, but there are a lot of great spots. Also, SMU kids not going there can be interpreted as a very good thing to some.

SMU is my alma mater and I have several friends who now have kids at SMU -- believe me, they still go to Lower Greenville.

Places like Kirby's Original Steak House, St. Martin's, "The Rose", Daddy Jack's, Terilli's, The Grape, Blue Fish, Gi Gi's, Pietro's, Whole Foods, the private club Moosh, Cafe Izmir, Nandina's, Corner Market (movie star sightings) etc. draw yuppie crowds (but they aren't the stuffed shirt kind).

A sophisticated evening might include delicacies from The Grape, Jazz and martinis at Terilli's and sipping cognac with Ben playing piano at St. Martin's.

Gosh, all those names are so ingrained in my brain. Someone said they heard "The Filling Station" was in Addison in that area where Prestonwood Mall used to be??????? We don't know IF it is like The Filling Station of old down on Greenville or not.

I know DH and I did at least one anniversary dinner at St. Martin's Wine Bistro. GREAT place with a super-romantic atmosphere!!

We also liked the bar at The San Francisco Rose.
