Does anybody know any place to recommend shopping for furniture for broke folks. I'm talking like where you buy sofas at $350 or below. I've seen a few places online but I thought to inquire about local places.

...thanks in advance guys.

Goodwill and other thrift stores would be your best bet. Craigslist is always an option too.

Ikea for cheap couches. Ikea or Target for cheap other items. Always check craiglist and thrift stores as well.

BT Furniture, Ikea, close-outs and on-line at Nebraska Furniture Mart. At NFM, they don't necessarily have them in the showroom, but plenty on-line for pickup.

Most Dallas cities have "bulk trash" one week per month or so. There are often many treasures sitting at the curbside during these times...

Even better if you can wait, go outside the SMU dorms at the end of the semesters. Lots of rich kids who either can't or don't want to move their heavy furniture with them that will just set really nice stuff out at the curb. I wouldn't trust citywide bulk trash week for anything with fabric.

Join your neighborhood's Nextdoor.com and look there for used. I see more and more stuff for sale on their because people do not want to deal with Craigslist. Because it is somewhat restricted to neighborhood, it has less of "complete strangers" feel (people see your name, where you live, etc.)
