I will be traveling to DFW airport with my 6 month old infant and taking a flight without car seat on a trip.

What are the options do I have to take a ride in cab to the DFW airport (e.g. Uber / Lyft / Yellow Cab / Super Shuttle etc.)?

According to TX DMV law, can infant under 12 months old travel in a vehicle without car seat? If not, any other alternatives?

Thanks in advance!

NOTE: I am traveling thru international airline which allows one piece (stroller or car seat) and I am planning to take stroller because at final destination country car seat is not mandatory. I am only interested in knowing other alternatives instead of hearing that I should travel with car seat.

You know that you can check your car seat with the airlines for free (if your child is flying in your lap), right? This will allow you to have the car seat to use at your destination, too. I would definitely recommend doing that!

I couldn't find the info specific for Texas in a quick search, but in many states cabs and busses are exempt from car seat rules. However, if I were you, I'd take the car seat. they are generally free on airplanes, so you just have to find a place to store it at your destination.

Let me clarify here.... I am traveling thru international airline which allows one piece (stroller or car seat) and I am planning to take stroller because at final destination country car seat is not mandatory.

So going back to the original question.... how can we travel to the DFW airport without infant car seat?

I’d take the car seat. Just because the country you’re traveling to doesn’t require a car seat..I’d still be concerned with my baby’s safety... but that’s just me.

I can't tell if you are traveling somewhere that a carseat won't be needed (ie going to London and using mostly train/transit) or where it simply isn't required. But if you plan to travel in the car without carseat at your destination, just use a cab or Uber/Lyft here without a carseat. You won't get a ticket holding a kid in your lap in one of those methods. If you have more time, take DART to DFW (this also presumes that parking near a DART stop is feasible for you) but that would be safe with no carseat.

You’re not supposed to park overnight at DART rail stations. I’m not sure if your car would actually be towed, but there is a risk.
I agree that the price of an additional checked item would be worth it for your baby’s safety.

Uber has an option for requesting car seat (may be an additional charge). Lyft may have one too.

#7 on this page: https://www.dps.texas.gov/director_s...tyPrgmFAQs.htm

Question: Are any passenger vehicles exempt from the child passenger safety law?

Answer: Yes – vehicles for hire: taxi cabs, limousines, hired shuttles, public transit buses and also passenger vehicles in which all seating positions equipped with safety seat systems and safety belts are occupied.

Given how terrible drivers are around DFW airport and how bad the traffic can be at random times, I wouldn't want to go to the airport without my infant in a car seat. I second hiring a car service that can provide a car seat.
