Relocating to the DFW metro area as husband’s job is travel based and 2/3 kids are living there. Looking for a HOUSE in the $500-600k range, 2800-3500 sft, 3+ beds/baths (with separate living spaces ideal) with pool or space for one. Ideally on a lake or with access to marina in the neighborhood. Open to anything within a 45 minute drive to DFW airport. Love restaurants and shopping with 10 minutes drive. Golf courses and Biking trails are always nice, too.

Rockwall! There are many lakefront developments, and it is a great community. My parents have lived in the area since 1993 and they LOVE it!

FYI most of our lakes here are Corp of Engineer Lakes and have little development or homes that are waterfront. Most people have a 2nd lake house on lakes 1-3 hours outside DFW. Give up that dream and you will have better luck.

If you have a boat, keep it at the marina and drive a short 30 minutes to a local lake.

That was their maximum, and it can easily be done via the PGBT.

Not according to Google Maps:

44 min (43.7 mi) via President George Bush Turnpike W
48 min (43.1 mi) via I-635 N
56 min (49.4 mi) via TX-78 S and President George Bush Turnpike W

Mid-afternoon holiday traffic, plus traffic will only get worse with time...not better.

Additionally, it's likely that the OP would have to tack on an additional 10 minutes to get out of her housing development and through multiple traffic lights just to get to I-30...so that 44 minutes is really more like 54. I Google mapped the trip from "Rockwall," not a specific location within Rockwall. Google dropped the "Rockwall" pin at the Rockwall County Tax Office.

Right now Google's showing 3 routes taking anywhere from 50 to 57 minutes.

If being a reasonable drive to DFW is one of OP's requirements, I don't think a town 44 miles from it with nothing but congested suburban traffic along the route really fits the bill.

Hmm. I'd suggest some place around southwest Frisco, or Little Elm/The Colony with easy access to Lake Lewisville and 121 down 423. The Tribute might work, but could be hard to make DFW in 45 as it's time consuming before you'd be able to get on 121.

Highland Village might be a good bet for you. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby and there should be homes in The Shores that fit your criteria.

Also Trophy Club and Grapevine on this side of the metro
