Will it be considered religious harassment if someone try to persuade you (against your choice) to participate in any religious organizational activities?

One of my friends recently moved to Dallas. Joined this one group to meet people and make new friends. Turned out the group was more like a religious organization which conducts monthly prayers and stuff. She is not a very religious person and her mere intention was to socialize and meet with people. Once she realized the religious nature of the group and after getting bugged by constant requests to join their prayer groups on a monthly basis, she pulled herself out of the group after making it clear of her disinterest.

But the group members just won't give up and keep making phone calls/bugging her to go back to the group. Even showed up at her door step unannounced in an attempt to influence her to re-join the group.

She has no intention to be part of the group anymore. Since she belongs to the same religion as the group, can it be considered religious harassment if it's done against her will?

Sure, that's harassment. But is it UNLAWFUL harassment? Probably not since it isn't occurring in a workplace, and she hasn't been denied employment due to her refusal to participate in the religious activities. If the people are coming to her house and bothering her, she could contact the local police and get a restraining order, or have them arrested for criminal trespass for coming on her property after she told them they were not welcome.

She cannot simply say "no" and this is a reason for you to post on CD? Handing out her phone number and address - how old is your friend?

No means No. Some people just don't get it the polite way. What can you do?

For some reason they believe they can easily persuade her to go back as they successfully did the same to few others who tried to quit few years back. So they are very confident about it.

She blocked all of their numbers, so they show up at her doorstep.

Next time, tell her to say: "I've asked you all to stop bothering me as I am not interested in your group. I've blocked your numbers, you are now showing up at my house unannounced and harassing me. If you don't stop contacting me and harassing me, I will contact the police and file a complaint and ask for a restraining order against you."

Easy. You stop being polite about it.

If they show up again, have her record them, and say (calmly) "I'm giving this to the police. I'm getting a restraining order against you and your organization." They won't be back.
