I grew up in the DFW area and have thought about moving back at times. I lived there from the late 80's to about 2006. When did most towns ban fireworks? Was it in the 70's? Can anyone remember a suburb or town like Lewisville, Farmers Branch, ect selling fireworks long ago? Just curious.

I lived in Plano back in 1986, even by the late 80's, they were banned inside Plano city limits. So we drove north (to what is now Frisco, and would set them off up there LOL.)

Back in the day most “custom” homes in the DFW area had wood roofs. Fireworks were a real hazard. If I recall, when I lived in Plano in 1978 they were illegal. Back then the custom homes outnumbered the tract houses, I believe. Majority rules. Here in Las Vegas where I reside during the weather tolerable months, fireworks are often set off at the golf course behind our house for parties. The neighbors freak out. Nextdoor blows up! Seems many pets get hysterical and people become fearful and resentful if they are not invited spectators. Another reason high density areas often ban them.

Well, I remember anti-fireworks posters in 1968, so I'm sure they were illegal in Dallas even then. I certainly couldn't comment on what ordinances small farm towns like Plano and Frisco had back then.
