I understand grass turning yellow has allot to do with lack of nitrogen and iron in the soil. Allot of these new homes being built have yellow grass all around them. I'm assuming builders deploy the grass after the home is built. I wonder if there is a better reason aside from cost for builders to use yellow grass. I have been seeing allot of this in new developments and it concerns me because I like my grass and money green.

Yellow grass??

Bermuda grass is dormant now and has a brown color. It will go green in the spring.

It is February. It is winter.
Take a Master Gardener class or talk your local landscaper.

They paint the grass brown to match the brick in the winter time.

Warm season grasses go dormant in the winter and turn brown. Yellowing is generally reserved for cool season grasses like Fescue. Yellowing is a sign of a lack of nitrogen. But what you are seeing in most developments is warm season grasses dormant over the winter - they will green up when soil temps rise in the spring.
