Hello. We are currently living in Flower Mound and my husband commutes to Uptown for work, it only takes him about 35 - 40 minutes from here. We are considering relocating to Rockwall for other reasons and wondering if anyone makes this commute? It's less miles, however it looks like the 30 backs up right before Dallas. He's not working prime hours, usually works 9:30 - 6:00. Thanks!

Yes, I-30 (DFW natives do not say "the" when referring to highways) backs up during rush hours. Fortunately, his later morning start will be after rush hours, but 6 PM is still within the evening rush hour. The only other big issue is getting across Lake Ray Hubbard. If there is an accident on the lake bridge, I-30 backs up very quickly. After several of their police cars and fire trucks have been hit and damaged, Rowlett PD/FD now shuts down the entire highway to clear the accident! There's only one alternate route: Highway 66, which is a much smaller bridge.

I can say that Rockwall is a very nice community. My parents live there and absolutely love it!

Thanks for your reply!
LOL I know it's called I-30, however I'm a new transplant for CA so still stuck say "the" before the Interstate name Thanks for the correction though, I hear it a lot. It's just a hard habit to break
