Yeah thats the old Asian area in Arlington & its starting to show its age unfortunately. Luckily a new Asian mall & Hong Kong Market was just built this past year in Grand Prairie off of Pioneer Pkwy. East of 360 is where all the businesses are starting to move.

Richardson (Greenville/Main/Beltline Exit) This is the largest Chinese district by far. It features 5 different strip malls of various sizes in an L-shaped distribution starting from Polk and Central Expressway going East towards Greenville, then proceeding north on Greenville Ave.
It features a large Asian Grocer and also an Indian grocer as well.
There are multiple bakeries in the area, though my favorite is Garden bakery.
Are you the relative of the owner of Garden Bakery?

Following your advice, I went there. It's the smallest Chinese bakery I have ever been too. No problem, but what's worse is that they have very small number of selections. I went on a Saturday afternoon and I was the ONLY customer there. Three men working there and no customers other than me. I felt bad, so I purchase two items. That place just doesn't feel "clean" for some reason. Well, after eating my purchase from there, it gave me explosive diarrhea. Thanks a lot!!!!

I am so thankful to have found this post!! I am convinced I must have been from the orient in a previous life as I love all things Asian. Looking forward to discovering these places after we move to Dallas. Need to find great dim sum, as well as a good place for my pho and bi bim bap fixation, and lastly a great oriental supermarket.

No, no relation. The red bean bun is the reason I still go there. Otherwise 99 ranch bakery is typically the chinese bakery I use now. It has good egg tarts and taro and cheese buns.

You can get you Tiao, shao bing both in Plano and Richardson areas. I typically go to Plano nowadays it seems like a lot of the Newer Chinese retail has moved up there. there is California based Ranch 99 and also Asian World Market. Mei Hua closed down, but there is still a good noodle restaurant there that sells fresh Magnus.

Here's the Asian districts that I have identified in the DFW Metroplex:

Chinese:
1) Legacy and Central Expressway: On the west side.
Features a small indoor mall plus a large supersized Chinese grocery store called the Asian World Market. The indoor mall includes a bakery, chinese cosmetics store, japanese crepes place, video store, trinkets, etc. The mall clearly has a Chinese slant to it.

2) Richardson (Greenville/Main/Beltline Exit) This is the largest Chinese district by far. It features 5 different strip malls of various sizes in an L-shaped distribution starting from Polk and Central Expressway going East towards Greenville, then proceeding north on Greenville Ave.

There are multiple bakeries in the area, though my favorite is Garden bakery.
For shaved ice, May's icecream takes honors.
Dumplings; Zheng Ji
Taiwanese: Gen Rou Kou
Dim Sum: Maxim and Kirin Court
There are many more restaurants and stores to talk about.

3) Mei Hua Strip: This is at Park and Coit on the NOrtheast corner:
Features Mei Hua Supermarket
Also a CHinese Hot Pot restaurant.
2 Chinese BBQ restaurants,
Plus an Asian food court.
The Emma bakery is very nice for dried pork buns.

4) Garland Walnut St. District:
This is a 2 mile long stretch of Chinese, Vietnamese strip malls. The Hong Kong Supermarket is by far the nicest, though there are several nice Vietnamese grocery stores too that feature great BBQ. This is probably the largest collection of Vietnamese cruisine in the metroplex.
Recommend the Le Me Vietnanmese sub shop.

Smaller Chinese/Vietnamese strips:
1) Arlington, TX off 360
2) Carrolton, TX on Josey and G Bush Turnpike going north on Josey.
3) Irving, TX Little Saigon Strip mall featuring L and N Seafood market.

Korean Strips:
1) Korean Town: Located at I-35 and Royal Lane THis is the largest Korean neighborhood. It features several Korean bakeries, the chain Komart (one of two I know of in the metroplex)

2) Irving: South on Beltline.
There is also a 99 Ranch Market in Plano, US75 @ Spring Creek.

D Magazine, June 2012, has an article on Chinese in Plano. It states that for US cities of a population 250,000+ Plano has the 6th largest percentage of Chinese residents, with an estimated 30,000 Chinese. Honolulu, NYC, and 3 California cities are the only larger ones.

Dallas-Fort a worth a metroplex has no Chinatown. But it does have that "Chinatown Plaza" in Richardson. I wouldn't call it a Chinatown, as it's just one strip mall. But it's something
