Sort of related, but I think it would be fun to do a happy hour where everyone just wears a nametag of their username and we have tables set up with beat to death thread topics that people can sit at.
Ba ha ha ha!!!

I did wind up realizing I knew one person.

I have, with certainty, identified a CD’er. She adopted a dog from my rescue group (my foster) but she’s not aware who I am or that I have id’d her. Its fun to read her posts; but she never mentions the doggie

I feel like someone I knew could easily figure out my identity based on relocation information that I’ve given out. I’m sure if someone really tried they could find me on Facebook, but there really aren’t many people like that out there.

I’m sure that most of the people on C-D out there who say that they know someone on it are people who created an account because someone they knew already had one.

I figured out a frequent poster's identity because they belong to one of the neighborhood FB groups I'm in, and I recognized them because the phrasing they used in a post was almost verbatim to what they had written on here. I'd never say anything - it's too stalk-ery.

I don't think I'd be hard to figure out either. At my previous job I was privy to some high profile business and community information, and it would occasionally be hard to keep my insider information to myself when I would read posts on here pertaining to things I was working on! Of course I did because first, it would violate work policies, and two, I didn't want my online identity to be discovered.

Yes. One guy got SUPER SMART with me over a simple comment I made on here responding to one of his posts. He basically responded in a way that he wouldn't have DARED respond to me in face to face. Then once I paid close attention to his user name and put that together with him always talking on here about how he lived in Frisco, where he moved from, and even the route he took to work each morning, that I knew the guy in real life and that I basically saw him every morning on his way to work (same commute time). I even knew what car he drove, because his user name was so similar and specific to something on his license plate. He didn't know who I was, but I let him know that he should be more careful revealing so much personal information about himself on the internet AND be careful how he talked to people over the internet, because if I were a different type of guy...well, I'll just leave it at that.

LOL

Like others have admitted though, I'd be super easy to figure out if someone stalked me (doesn't bother me- just sayin...)
