A friend from college reached out to me the other day..."Hey BigD, we're moving to DFW to work off Legacy in Plano and since you live in that area, what are some good neighborhoods for us in the $450k and under range?"

Uh....

No idea, since I don't live in Plano? Help?

Which part of Legacy? I'm assuming Legacy/DNT area? If so, I'd suggest they look in the 75024 zip code. I just did a quick search and there's a mix of townhomes (newer) and single family (obviously older). I'm no help with individual neighborhood names or recommendations.

Yup, Legacy and DNT. They want a SFH. They're going to send their kids to Catholic school so they're not concerned about school feeder patterns.

If they’re sending their children to private school, then they should just look at The Colony or Hebron. There’s not much reason to live in more expensive areas such as Plano, Frisco, or Allen if you aren't going to utilize the public schools.

I'm in The Legends in the Colony (just Northwest of 121/Spring Creek). Legacy West is about 7 minutes away. If they aren't concerned about schools, they might want to check this area out. My same house in West Plano would be over $450k.

I'll suggest that to them.

Hebron = Carrollton, right? Is it a specific zip code?

Also add 75093 as parts of that are zoned to the dreaded Lewisville ISD () and prices might be a bit lower. Is the Catholic school located in Plano? If so, they may not want go as far north as The Colony.

I think they said they're sending them to Prince of Peace? Is that a thing? They mentioned John Paul something too. I don't know Catholic schools.

I believe both are Catholic schools located in southern Plano. There are neighborhoods around both, the ones adjacent to JPII would be more affordable.
