I moved from small city, Columbia, MO, about 1 year ago to the NE Dallas area. After living here for awhile here, I got to say I am now quite scared of the drivers down here in Dallas. Columbia, MO was nice small town with 90k pop (nearest big cities are 120 miles way) with hardly much traffic problem. In Dallas area there always crazy driver around and traffic accidents everyday. I these days I have driving more carefully make sure I make it out alive!

For example, just today driving down I-35E north of I-635 there were accidents blocking the left lanes. Well, everyone just rush and cut in trying to get to right lanes. A truck almost hit car and created accident on the right lanes. Then cars from behind decide go drive on shoulders and cut in front. There was ramp merging into the highway. Some guys in shoulders deciding cutting through grass to back to the frontage road was a great idea. Then there this guy who was on ramp about merge. After he just the jam he Reversed BACK down the one-way on ramp to the frontage road! I swear these guys were asking for another accident to happen. I never seen anything like this back in my small home town in Missouri.

Also, even though speed limits on almost all highways are 60 mph, every drives as fast as possible. Most of the traffic are always driving at 75-80 mph if its clear. Of course there some of these guys roaring by at 90 mph+. Then one of two those guys at 90mph decide cut across 4-5 lanes to their exit... I always which the police were there catch at least some of them, but I usually never see that happen

Driving in big city safely is sure much harder than nice small one. No wonder there car insurance rates are 3 or times higher here than back in Columbia, MO!

What scares me are all the drivers in trucks who seem to have purchased trucks so they can drive 2 inches from everyone's rear bumper at 80 plus mph. Maybe they are just mad about the cost to fill the gas tank so they need to take their aggression out on people driving smaller vehicles!!

Well when you go from 90,000 population to a 1.2 million population it kind of comes with the territory. LOL! Git'Er Done.

Getting into and off the "managed" HOV lane on 75 is a nightmare, but once you make it to the HOV, the 75-635 drive is quite convenient.

Go Tigers! My husband and I both went to Mizzou. I miss Columbia! I think we have experienced worse driving/traffic than DFW since then, though. We moved to Chicago after graduation and then to the DC area. I feel like I'm ready for anything when it comes to crazy drivers. It was quite an adjustment from Columbia, though

In my experience, drivers of fullsize trucks/SUVs are the most agressive and dangerous drivers on the road. I consider their low MPG a form of penance.
