ours too. We know of 1 other in his grade that got waitlisted as well. However, I don't believe the 'only 3 per grade' number. seems extremely low, and admissions people told us directly that the wait list carries over y2y and you continue to move up if you continue to apply each year.

Really ? This implies that showing interest means something doesn't it?

I hope everyone received good news! We are looking at Kindergarten. I am curious of people's thoughts on Hockaday versus Greenhill. Also, thoughts on Hockaday and Greenhill versus schools like Parish and ESD. After a round of rejections last year, our daughter was fortunate enough to get accepted to all four this year. I know there are a lot of older discussions on this topic, but wondering if things have changed. We were all in on Hockaday or Greenhill when we started the process, but we also really liked our visits and discussions with the Parish and ESD folks. I realize it's a very family specific choice, but all things being equal, is there really that big of a difference among these schools? Do people still consider the hierarchy being Hockaday/Greenhill as a tier above ESD/Parish? Heck, are Greenhill and Hockaday even in the same tier? All four school seemed outstanding, but they were each so different. I loved aspects of them all. I didn't really walk away from any of them with any negative feelings. Thanks for any insight that you can provide.

We are at Parish now and love it. Our daughter is thriving and has many friends in her class. We applied to Hockaday and Greenhill for Kindergarten and were waitlisted for both. Were we upset? Not at all. We applied to see if she could get in to either school and would have passed on Greenhill if she got in (we were not sold it was a fit for her personality). Getting into Hockaday would have been a discussion though.

Ours, too. Anyone know of any boys who were admitted from the waitlist for lower grades at SM?

Of all the schools that we visited, we felt that Hockaday's tour was the best. I have to say that we visited only 2 other private schools. The very fact that Hockaday is ready to put fifteen 4th graders on stage to answer questions from parents impromptu speaks of their belief in their school and the education that they are providing. We also had great conversations with few teachers.
