I never said we shouldn’t be concerned. But swine flu killed close to 500k people globally around 12k in the US alone. This can’t be bigger than what they make it to be. They dont mention the survival rate compared to a few dying from it. I feel its as more agenda driven than what it actually is.

Come on, the WHO and CDC are agenda-driven? Give it a rest. Like I said, the HIV comparison is completely irrelevant.

In the meantime a person who had been quarantined in San Antonio and had two negative tests was allowed to leave the base with a test pending. Pending test was positive and she is back into quarantine after being out in public. This is a sh** show.

I don't feel like I'm downplaying it; I'm truthfully saying that there's nothing I personally can do (aside from washing my hands and not going out if I get sick).

You’ve already proven repeatedly that you’re clueless for the most part. Now this.

Yup...I'm sure there will be.

This is the problem area.
Many people don't have any sick leave, and will be on the streets if they miss even a day of pay.
Others also have no healthcare to be tested should they be suspicious
Still others, like most of the professional world in DFW, are driven by their bosses, professional standards, the capitalist corporate world, et al, to come to work even if they, on paper, DO (allegedly) have "sick days".

Yes, we all should be allowed to stay home at the first signs of Covid or any other virus, but it doesn't work that way.

What good does all this worrying do?

Wash your hands, dont touch your face, stay active, and get rest. Thats all you can do.

This. Live your lives and just be reasonably conscientious. Let the chips fall where they may.

“The incompetence has really exceeded what anyone would expect with the C.D.C.,” said Dr. Michael Mina, an epidemiologist at Harvard University. “This is not a difficult problem to solve in the world of viruses.”

This! I work for a very large multi-national corporation in the medical field. I get 8 wks PTO a year, but I've had managers tell me and my coworkers that we better not call in sick unless we have 104+ fever and are vomiting b/c and I quote " We're all adults here and adults should be able to work with a cold"

Plus we get penalized for unscheduled absences such as calling in sick even if you have a doctor's note. It's ok if you can schedule your infirmity though

Corporate America really should change that whole way of thinking.
