First let me start off by saying, we were in DFW last weekend and absolutely fell in LOVE! I was so depressed at the airport having to come back to Southern California. We are moving out at the end of May. We really decided we liked Allen and hope to settle there, we have even reserved an apartment there. My husband has 2 interviews in Denton, I was wondering what the commute would be like from Allen to Denton taking the above route. I was thinking it might not be too bad considering the commute is headed away from downtown Dallas. Any input would be appreciated Thanks so much!
Also just a note - my husband does not mind a 30-40 minute commute.

Your best bet to get to Denton is to take 75 to 380 and 380 will take you directly into Denton. Going through McKinny will just mean that you are struggling thru traffic lights and it will eventually dump you right onto 380 as there is no other way to get to Denton from McKinney without getting on to 380.

Good Luck!!!

I've driven that exact route from Fairview, which is just east of Allen, to Krum, which is very close to Denton, and it took an hour with no traffic, it was a Saturday morning. I would think that it would me more than a 30-40 minute commute during the morning and evening hours.

I've driven from Allen to Denton quite a few times - with zero traffic, you're talking 50-60 minutes depending where in Denton. The drive would be brutal.

I have to admit, I don't understand liking an area so much as to let my SO drive 2 hours per day, drastically decreasing the time they can spend with their family. I'm definitely a proponent of living close to work for quality of life reasons. Check out Lewisville - it's much closer and a very nice city as well.

I live in Lewisville currently and I must say that Highland Village and Flower Mound are much nicer areas.

Thanks for all your help to those who responded! I think it's pretty clear that working in Denton and living in Allen is not feasible. I guess now I will start researching all the areas in and around Denton. Thanks again and any further input would be appreciated as well
