As soon as the owner called and said technically they had an offer of employment, those benefits went away.
Oh that is really sh$tty. And another place whose food I love. We have a Father Christmas pie every year

She is/was in a tough spot - she laid people off, then got money in the first round of PPP. And I think she was worried that if they all didn’t come back to work, the SBA loan wouldn’t be forgiven. I don’t know what I would have done, if I were in her place. I love their pies, but I don’t love the woman who owns it (that sentiment pre-dates this situation, to be clear).

She also has to maintain headcount. I'm sure she could have done this, but that is also a requirement.

Good to know, thanks.

PPP had good intentions but the June 30/ 8 week timeframe to rehire and maintain 75% of prior payroll is tough. Clearly was written before people realized some businesses won’t be opening until June, July, or summer 2021 (some summer camps).

This isn't about the restaurant's image.

It's about their politics and their Trump-ism.

I won't go to their restaurant and will not waste my money there. Most restaurants in DFW area have horrible customer service anyway. Treat their customers like garbage. NO thanks. I have better things to do with my cash.

Figuring we should call this the Stupid Virus.

Not sure whether Virus creates the Stupid, or it just brings it to the surface to see, but the Stupid seems to be a key feature, at least in the US Variation.
