Folks - have you been to any of the DMV sites in the Dallas area post May29 for any license related issues? How was the experience? Were folks social distancing? Was it crowded? Did you feel safe with the experience?

You have to make an appointment to do anything DMV-related as they are not open for walk-ins. I booked an appointment last week for a renewal that I can't do online and earliest date available was 9/29.

Let me answer my own question. Went to the DMV for license renewal. Had a 12.30 PM appt @ Carrolton center. There was a line outside with about 30 folks. Stood there for 15 mins and then an DMV employee came by and said they were running an hour and a half late. Since it was hot, asked everyone to go sit in the car and only folks within half hour of currently processing time was allowed to stand in the line.

When my turn came to stand in line, it was an hour long wait in the sun before you got into the building. You get your temp checked before you entered. Once you enter, the process is really quick. There were only about 10 -15 folks inside and about 10 open counters. So, once inside it took me all of 15 mins to get my license renewed and walk out.

Pro tip: check in online when you arrive at the DMV.

It may be easier to renew online if you are eligible. I did recently and it arrived in 4 weeks.

And by "DMV" you mean "DPS."
