The home inspector company (website https://thehomeinspectorstx.com) sold my data to mylife.com and also many other service provider. I kept get spam calls and emails from different home service provider after I ordered an inspection from this company. It's terrible.

I will never use it or suggest others to use this inspection company again.

Did your inspection contract mention anything about allowing them to provide your information to third party service providers? Did they provide you any of those 90 day free warranties?

I did too, but I used a different home inspection company. I preferred to use a smaller one-man home inspector to do our home inspection. I called a bunch and couldn't find one. So, I used one out of Denton. They charged to much and the home inspector was a know-it-all. The only things I cared about were the sewer lines inspection and the foundation inspection. Long story short we did get a new roof out of the inspection report. That alone made putting up with the home inspector worth it. I think the company we used is affiliated with some other home repair businesses and they kept texting me. For now they have stopped.

Consumers who do wish to maintain their privacy and not receive all the annoying spam calls, emails, etc. should closely look at their home inspection contract. Many Inspectors do receive payments, goods, services, etc., for selling your information to these "Third Party Service Providers". They will entice you with some "Free" trinket and place wording in their contracts that you authorize the Inspector to "provide" your information to a "Third Party" who is compensating them for your information.

Another angle to the scam is the Inspector may offer a free report of some type (other than the home inspection report) but not require you to agree in their contract to sell your information off. Instead when you go to pull that report the "Third Party Service Provider" may force you to agree selling off your information before you can download that report from their site.

It's all a scam where you sign away your privacy for some free trinket not really worth anything to begin with. Also you never really know how many people your information is being passed/sold to over and over again.
