Personally, I don't feel any of the schools are that competitive. However, I am judging compared to the top 10 universities (US News) and top 10 programs (Computer Science/Engineering/etc.). I find academia to be much fairer in general compared to "real life" (and no, life's not fair). Even the best public schools won't adequately prepare you to compete at the top if you're worried about competition. For some people, it's easier to get into almost any school (including "Ivy League") than getting a "fair" opportunity for a job.

What are your thoughts/feedback on Plano West and on Flower Mound (academics and minority breakdown)?
Can't go wrong with either high school. Plano West is the Alabama of Metroplex high schools if you catch the college football reference (for instance cranks out the most National Merit kids in the entire state year in/year out) while Flower Mound flies a little lower in the radar as far as name recognition but is still a powerhouse. Plano West is a bit more balanced as far as other races and socioeconomic status where Flower Mound is probably closer to 2/3 Caucasian and a smidge more affluent. In all honesty, comes down to would you rather live in Plano or Flower Mound.

Do you mean Flower Mound HS or Flower Mound Marcus?
