I'm moving to dallas this august, and I'm looking for an alternative other than living in UTD's Waterview Park Apartment. I want to compare it with garage apartments around the campus. Can anybody help me with this?

You're probably not going to find one. Garage apartments are VERY uncommon in most areas of Texas! The houses near UTD are not very old, and unless an owner has converted their garage to an apartment, they just don't exist.

What about renting a room in a family's house. Is it common there? From google map, I saw there's a nice neighborhood west of UTD. Is it common to rent a room, a single for one person in one of those houses? thx

wow, great, that's a great help. at least, i know where to go when i really need to get the apartment as soon as possible. since i won't leave my hometown until around the end of july, so I think i will start use the search service intensively around july.
