I would love for some of them to count towards a major but mostly I love that they are finally experiencing some rigor and challenge in humanities. I've said it before but our school district hyper, laser, focuses on Math and Science and humanities are an afterthought. My husband and I were blown away positively by their GT/AP Human Geo class this year (9th), the depth of projects and critical thinking required. They both reported feeling great after they took the test earlier this month.
Thanks for that. For the record I'm a big AP booster, IB less so. My main rub with AP is that some colleges generally don't accept AP hours, a good number of others only with significant restrictions and still more sometimes advise against using AP hours. I wish the AP people were more clear about all that.

A&M is big engineering focus. Slightly easier admit but it's holistic. Need first quarter and 1350+ with solid course rigor. Other entries through Blinn, Galveston and McAllen.
OU and Auburn are generally similar
Arkansas and Alabama are similar
Tech and Ole Miss are similar
Covid might have changed/delayed this but A&M was planning to morph its auto admit scheme to a top 10% cutoff this coming Fall.

Yikes. These last two sentences are not exciting me. Thanks for the take on them.

Those schools aggressively recruit Texas high school students who get squeezed by the two biggest schools in the state. They offer generous tuition breaks and scholarships and sell themselves to interested Texans with the plum of attending the state flagship. They don’t produce enough highly qualified grads to support and grow their universities on their own.

I would be thrilled if either or both of my boys chose Arkansas or OSU. Esp Ark due to the beautiful surroundings! It doesn't seem like either of those schools are as Greek obsessed as the big TX schools, OU, and Bama.

All colleges are liberal in Texas so she shouldn’t have a problem with that.

You say she "will" end up in the medical field... you don't know that. Most college students change their minds.

If you are in healthcare industry than you may’ve noticed a shift from medical graduates to “provider”, nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant, CNA etc are taking over a log of work load from physicians. With insurance, high cost, AI, computers and data base, healthcare practices are changing.
