City has ~480 shootings for the year, on pace for the most since 2000. 2020 was the previous record with ~1,030.
I find this so crazy because I've been down by woodtown and honestly I never feel truly unsafe walking around out there. Well, except for walking around redbird mall. I remember I bought some new Jordan 4s off my boy who works down there at champs and when I left the building and was walking back to my car I could feel the stares. I felt like if I didn't get to my car soon it was finna be over for me! XD

In that area its the Super 7/Best Value Inn/other motels and extended stays that are the real magnets for crime, been that way for years.

On open data searching for keywords words - shot, shooting, Signal 19 - Shooting, FIREARM INJURY - helps. DPD is not as open with data as they used to be so you're not going to find everything. The old open data site posted all police reports and call sheets. The active calls page can also help with searching.

Most danger I ever felt was walking on Community Dr between Denton Dr and Northwest Highway, and Preferred Place and Chesterfield Dr area

Very cool. How far of a region do these numbers/info cover? Up to the northern suburbs? Is there something like this for Tarrant, Denton and Rockwall counties?

I like seeing maps and stats like this but as an outsider to the region I'm not quite sure how much they "cover."

Probably one of the roughest areas from a visual standpoint that I’ve ever seen in Dallas. I would also put Forest and Audelia in North Dallas on the list too. That area has high gang activity and crime. The crime is pretty bad. A few years back, I was stopped at an apartment complex after a shooting. It was sketchy as hell, but I was picking up a friend in the complex. He told me someone was shooting and we’re looking for a suspect. The officer came to my door questioning me, but luckily another officer seen me pulling up. He said shootings happen very often in Forest/Audelia. It lowkey felt like profiling when he stopped me, but I didn’t press the issue. I just wanted get out of there...
Grew up in that area (Forest, Audelia, Skillman, Royal etc). Never felt unsafe but I think that happens because I didn't know any better. Just felt like "home". Lived in apartments next to Huntington Lakes...apartments that were torn down to build the DART station off Skillman across from LA Fitness.

There were at least two murders in the units underneath and across from us. Lots of roaches no matter how clean you were. Most of the major chains didn't even like delivering to our complex. Only the Chinese food joints (Uncle Wok and Skillman Wok) plus a mom & pop pizza place across the street next to where LA Fitness is now.

I still remember when the LA Fitness off Skillman was a Whole Foods and there was an Eckerd's, Baskin Robbins and a dry cleaner. Mi Cocina was on the opposite side of the parking lot. "Walnut Hill" was actually Kingsley Rd. Sketchiest area might be around Big Mama's Chicken. The Walmart off Forest is my least favorite WM, and that's saying a lot because I don't even like WM to begin with.

They have torn down a number of complexes south of the LH DART station in the last 5 years to build the LH Town Center, a new single family home development, and Haven Lake Highlands a newer apt complex.

The bad complexes are further north along Whitehurst or up in the Audelia/Walnut or Audelia/Forest area.

I suggest that, in the future, you base things ON other things rather than OFF them. Gravity can cause a lot of trouble when you base things OFF other things.

They tore those down in 2007.

Yep, they've been gone for awhile.

There was talk about it going back to like '04 or '05. I distinctly remember an older Afro-Cuban gentleman that said they were tearing it all down; the apartments, adding something where Whole Foods had been...just didn't know what it was going to look like.

I remember when Huntington Lakes, the apartments next to the train station, were built around 1996. Think they were charging like $700-ish for a 2-bdr or something like that which seemed outrageous to some at the time (at least those of us on the lower end of the economic spectrum lol).
