For personal reasons, our children are not vaccinated.

We are having trouble finding private schools that do not require all students to be vaccinated.

Are there any such schools in the DFW area?

If there is, I would never send my child to such a school.

The vaccination requirements are state law and apply to any public or private childcare or elementary school. You will not find any school that waives them. But, the statute has a broad exemption 1) medical reasons and 2) for conscientious objectors and religious belief.

Yes, most of the private schools around here do not accept the waiver for reasons of conscience. I am wondering which ones do.

Look for a school with an exemption rate more than zero on Texas Tribune or Texas Dept of State Health Services.

I have been doing that, but don't want to rule out schools just because they had zero exemptions for any given year.

This report is a few years old, but these are area private schools with more than 10% of 7th graders unvaccinated. I’ve never heard of 14 of the 16 schools on this list - my guess is you are wading deep into schools that put a high priority on extreme Conservative / Christian worldview and less emphasis on traditional academics, but it at least gives you a jumping off point to make a list.

Your two strongest academic schools - assuming you can confirm their vax policy as it is not clearly listed on either website- will be Alcuin (shocking to see a school positioned in the elite tier out of the 150+ private schools in DFW with such a high % of unvaccinated students) and Cambridge (extremely conservative Christian school but respectable classical education model).

*Alcuin (Dallas)
Alliance Christian Academy (FW)
Calvary Christian Academy (FW)
Christian Life Preparatory (FW)
Coram Deo Plano
Denton Calvary Academy
Lake County Christian (FW)
Montessori Children’s House (FW)
North Star School (Arlington)
Temple Christian Academy (Flower Mound)
The Selwyn School (Argyle)
Trivium Academy (Carrollton)
Ume Preparatory Academy (Dallas)
Vanguard Prep (Dallas)
Wylie Prep
*Cambridge School (Dallas)

Trinity Christian Academy (TCA in Addison) will accept reason of conscience. I’d be willing to bet that the similar Christian schools like Prestonwood and Legacy Christian would as well.

Also an FYI Trivium on that list above is a charter school but I remember seeing it had a large percentage of unvaccinated from an article a few years back (was interested since a couple coworkers send their kids there). A charter school may also be an option you’d want to consider.

Thank you so much! Excellent point about charter schools.
