There was also a car jacking attempt in Glencoe in 2021. Insane because Glencoe is even more remote than Wilmette/Kenilworth.

How many car jackings were there in the Park Cities and Preston Hollow in 2021?

Chicago is very dangerous now, even the north side.

And it’s only a matter of time before the thuggery makes its way into the affluent North Shore. There was a carjacking attempt in Wilmette about a month ago. The perps were from Gary, IN.

When I was growing up in Wilmette, the thugs wouldn’t have dared go north of Evanston. Chicago is a victim of its poor and corrupt Democratic leadership, who are accommodative of and lenient on criminals.

And in before you call me a racist, I’m a black male.
Some people know a lot about car jackings ....

With the victim rate of shootings and homicides being nearly 80% black and the perpetrators... I can imagine you feeling less safe in cities.... Remember... YOU brought Race in and suburbs even....

Sorry you had to develope into such a extremist. Do you aim it after those of your own race. Seems so.

The beautiful Mag mile still is such. The tulips will be up followed by more summer flowers with tropical trimmings. Still tourist will come but probably not yet pe-covid levels the city itself hit 52-mil tourist still may be less till all conventions are up and we just travel pre-covid.

Videos still show a vibrant city downtown and its vibrant neighborhoods.

I always find it amazing how a Houston and Dallas still grows such crime in its booming and sprawling suburbs Yet it is not hyped. Homicides get hyped not overall crime.

This link speaks on the Chicago crime rate. YOU BRINGING IN SUBURBS ...

https://realestate.usnews.com/places...rt-worth/crime

Check out the stats of other cities.

Crime Rate 2020
Crime rate is the number of crimes committed per 100,000 people.

Houston metro - 625.4/ per 100,000 people

Dallas metro ----- 366.5/ per 100,000 people

Chicago metro -- 252.8/ per 100,000 people

Wash DC metro - 163.5/ per 100,000 people.

I suggest YOU MOVE TO THE DC METRO....

Well, according to crime reports for the Park Cities last week, there were several car thefts and an assault.

https://parkcities.bubblelife.com/type/crime.

Both cities have their attributes. Dallas has crime, so does Chicago. There are very safe parts of Chicago. There are very safe parts of Dallas. Having a preference for one over the other is cool, but the crime logic doesn’t really bear out.

Your statistics comparing crime in Dallas and Chicago are both out of date and inaccurate.

Chicago ended 2021 “as one of the most violent on record in Chicago, as a rise in the number of shootings left more people dead than in any single year in a quarter century, according to statistics released by the police department on Saturday” (NBC 5 Chicago).

https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/loca...y/2719307/?amp

The same article states there were 797 homicides in Chicago in 2021, up +4% from 2020, and up a distressing +37% since 2019, which was the highest since 1996.

By comparison, Dallas recorded just 220 homicides in 2021, and 254 homicides in 2020, according to Dallas police crime statistics.

Which means that Chicago’s murder rate is over 3.5 times greater than Dallas in both 2020 and 2021. These years aren’t aberrations from the norm, Chicago’s murder rate has always been significantly higher.

Chicago Police’s official year-end crime statistics for 2021 has been conveniently scrubbed from its website but the year-to-date 2022 statistics for murder, robbery, assault, and auto theft are all tracking significantly higher compared against Dallas.

Chicago Police crime statistics, year-to-date 2022: https://home.chicagopolice.org/wp-co...22-Week-15.pdf

Dallas Police crime statistics, year-to-date 2022: https://dallaspolice.net/resources/C...aily%20EOY.pdf

Also, pointing out the pathologies and criminality of the black community makes me neither “extremist” or “self-hating”.

As you said, 80% of these crimes are black-on-black, so why is acknowledging that Chicago has a black crime problem — not simply a crime problem — controversial?

I have never suggested that Dallas doesn’t have crime.

But it’s undeniable that overall, Dallas is much safer than Chicago, and statistically speaking, one is much less likely to be a victim of violent crime in Dallas versus Chicago.

Carjackings, for instance are out of control in Chicago, which recorded 1,415 carjackings in 2020 and over 1,800 carjackings in 2021, according to the Chicago Tribune and CNN, respectively:

https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...105.1650123398

https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/23/us/ca...105.1650123398

Comparatively, there were 395 carjackings in Dallas in 2021, according to WFFA Dallas:

https://www.wfaa.com/amp/article/new...c-b6a8490864e3

I can’t find data on how many carjackings were in Dallas in 2020, but I can guarantee it wasn’t anywhere near the 1,400+ Chicago recorded.

As of 2021, Chicago’s rate of carjackings is 4.5 times greater than Dallas. By every objective measure of crime, Chicago is more dangerous than Dallas.

Glad you found a place you feel safer. Large pockets of violent crime is Chicago- no doubt. But again, many areas of “Chicago” are just as safe or safer than comparable parts of “Dallas.” Take your Glencoe reference- 20 miles north of Chicago - odds of being a victim of violent crime - 1/1450. In Plano (19 miles north), the odds of being a victim of violent crime - 1/630. (Couldn’t get link to copy - neighborhood scout lets you compare town to town) Plus, in glencoe (not my speed, but still), you have stunning homes, a beach and Ravina. Plano, - is Plano. Nice homes, land locked and standard suburban sprawl. Dallas has a lot to offer, enjoy going back but there are plenty of areas I am going to avoid - just as i would in Chicago.

But Plano and Glencoe aren’t comparable at all.

Glencoe is a tiny, hyper affluent bedroom community with a population under 9,000, whereas Plano is an affluent mid-sized suburb with a population of roughly 287,000.

Even West Plano (75093), whose income demographics are more in line with the the North Shore still isnt’t comparable, because it’s got 43,000 residents. The closest comparison to Plano I’ve seen is Scottsdale, AZ.

And unlike Chicago, the Dallas-equivalent of the North Shore suburbs are in the city proper. Highland Park and University Park are Dallas’ answer to Wilmette, Kenilworth, Glencoe, and Winnetka (New Trier school district).

The North Shore communities are generally very safe, but my concern is that criminals believing much of the propaganda and false narratives around anti-black police brutality, have been emboldened by the Left to terrorize areas they wouldn’t have dared to several years ago.

I’m not bashing my hometown. It saddens me that Chicago has become crime-ridden, but facts are facts.

Chicago needs to get rid of it’s weak-on-crime city leadership and rally behind law enforcement.

No, those stats don't mean Chicago's murder rate is 3.5x Dallas'. Murder rate is a function of population, and Chicago's population is twice that of Dallas. Chicago having 3.5 times as many murders doesn't mean its murder rate is 3.5 times as high.

Was about to post this exact thing, because it was really bugging me.
