Hi Everyone !

As we’re soon to be moving, I’ve kept having this discussion with everyone around me.

I would love to open dialogue and see what you all think. Keep it light and fun!

Would you rather pay income tax and lower your property taxes or stay as is & why ?

Looking forward to this one !

Why should I be punished for making more money? Your property is a choice to a greater extent, just because I can afford a bigger or more expensive house doesn't mean I would voluntarily pay more taxes, ... I don't need to impress the Jones, Changs, or Patels. Lots of people move further away to a nicer cheaper house further away when their youngest child is a senior in (or just graduated from) high school.

We have no state income tax and low property taxes.

I don’t think that poster lives in TX. From their posting history they are in NV, which does have low property taxes and no income tax. Not sure what the point of their post on this forum was, but anyway.

Whether you are a renter or a home owner, everyone pays property taxes.

Not everyone pays Income taxes. In Dallas County probably 50% or less.

They are in Canada looking to move to DFW.

OP wants fantastic schools and cheap taxes.

I was talking about Teacher Terry, not the OP.

Yes we do. I'll take the low property taxes here and no income tax. The amount I write a check for here is lower than it would be if I were writing that check in almost every other major metro area.
