It’s probably worth $18-20M today.

The last home on the right as you exit the alley is 4700 St Johns (with four garage doors), owned by another Hunt - Patrick Sands, son of Caroline Hunt (Lamar’s sister) who developed The Crescent office complex in Uptown and owned The Mansion on Turtle Creek and the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. It sold for almost $16M a few years ago. Probably around $20M now.

The rest of the homes are all in the $3-8M range, the empty lot is 1/2 acre and probably around $3.5-4M. Former VP Dick Cheney lived in the next block down until 2002.

Point being, when two billionaires live on the block and a former United States Vice President lived down the block - and they are all obviously fine with alley & side entry garages….our Canadian poster needs to sit down.
Lol it’s my problem that people find it okay with spending 8M on a home and using an alleyway?
I’m sorry, I didn’t know I wasn't allowed to questions on the board that I created that you came visit.
Toronto is a Global city, Dallas is not.
I’m use to one thing as it’s foreign to pretty much EVERYONE not from Dallas.
I’m asking questions to familiarize myself with the norms in Dallas and how people feel about it… and I need to sit down? You need to stay in your lane.
Nobody forced you to be here

One advantage of the alley- you never have to take your trash cans to the street and you don't have to see them lining the streets on trash day.

we live in UP and I really like having an alley! Who wants to have the garage (or the garbage in front)? If you are dying to show off your car, you can always get a house with circular drive and park it there.

It’s not really showing off per say,
What I’ve been accustomed to my whole life.
Although I’m a huge car guy, I’d just love the idea of entering my home from the front and seeing it Parked there.
Maybe it’s a culture thing?
I’m sure it’ll take adjusting.
I’ve been looking and have found cut curbs so it’s always possible for new builds.

Thanks for taking the time to reply

Most HP homes have driveways in front that go through to a detached garage in back. Few alleys in HP. The video you posted is all UP, which mostly has alley access. I hate the look of garages in front. But I don't mind the driveway leading to a garage in back. We have lived in HP and UP and I really like the alley access. And no problem driving back there - it is 20 feet wide (only 10' is paved). But the front driveway is nice too because you see a lot of neighbors out front.

If you want, you can certainly park your car in front of your house. No one cares in HP/UP, nor are they impressed. If you want to be seen, go to the village and park in front of Starbucks.
