New here and looking for restaurants in N Dallas/Addison/Plano/Frisco area that offer items for dietary restrictions, specifically celiac (wheat allergy). (Gluten Free)

You may not like this answer but chain restaurants. They get enough complaints and requests where they can directly source their menu and tell you for sure what is safe for nearly any dietary restriction. The local places - it's more hit or miss.

I have two members of my family that must avoid gluten. I have to agree with chain restaurants.

These restaurants have many gluten-free options:

True Food Kitchen
Bellagreen
Flower Child
North Italia
PF Changs

Generally agree. However, my friend recently went to Dairy Queen with her son and her son is allergic to peanuts. They didn't order anything that may contain peanuts (of course) and my friend told them her son has a peanut allergy. Still her son got sick and had to go to the ER. Needless to say it's a horrific experience for a parent. Dairy Queen refuses to acknowledge it's their problem. Luckily her son turned out to be OK. My friend is furious at Dairy Queen but to fight them takes too much time and energy. So that's that.

I guess my point is I don't have any specific recommendation and you have to always be on the lookout and hope for the best.

Glad the boy is OK.

Your friend would very likely not be able to win/prevail against DQ. It's well known that DQ uses and keeps products that contain peanuts in every restaurant. If DQ severed him peanuts by mistake that would be one thing. But untraceable secondary and accidental exposure is entirely another.

Mexican food is very easy for someone with gluten intolerance. Just order corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas.

I don't know about the gluten-free stuff, but Bella Green has good food. PF Chang, not so much.

Can't go wrong with a steakhouse if you're avoiding gluten.
