We signed mid February and were just told they probably won't break ground until October, can anybody beat that?

That's a long wait. Hope things goes smoother after that for you. Which builder did you go with?

Most builders are not signing these types of contracts now.
They will get a house started and price, sell it when it's about 75% complete.

You need to be prepared for some big price surprises and shortages / limited choices as you start to build. Your builder is probably someone I would avoid.

Signed in November 2020....form boards went up two weeks ago, but in the wrong place. No slab yet. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks with 7 month build time.

Reserved the lot in October 2020, got our turn to write contract in December 2020.
Current Stage: Electrical, plumbing, HVAC and Homepro done, waiting for windows since more than a month.
Tentative closing: September, but I seriously doubt it.

Did any know what's going with windows ? Everyone seems to be waiting for 1-2 months after the home is sheathed.

We are building with Highland as well, but shortage is shortage unfortunately .
Slab took forever because of the weather and the permit issuance.

Then the wood for the frame is back ordered so it is causing a 3 weeks delay .

They have windows shortage, countertop shortage etc. It is a patience game :-X

Luckily there haven't been many delays where we are building, at most 1 - 2 months from the original promised date. Mostly due to the countertops. If you signed in December it's super strange that it took until July to start... must be a permit issue. We have a few neighbors signed in December already moved in.

September closing is very ambitious. I wouldn't place my bets for this date.

From the time drywall and brick goes up, it's taking anywhere 3 to 5 months for the builder to close in this market.
