I was acquainted with a person on Facebook, who claimed that he was a businessman in Dallas, Texas, USA. His phone number is [mod cut - no personal info]. He cheated me a lot of money but I can't find him. I just got his phone number. What can I do to search for his information such as address?

1) Never trust Facebook not all of them are legitimate.
2) Check BBB.
3) Never do business with just a phone #.

If you only have his phone # good luck.

OP says she was acquainted with a businessman, not necessarily doing business with him. BBB and FTC could be irrelevant here.

Sorry you got scammed. You will want to file a police report and give them all the info about him that you do have (phone number, messages, etc - don’t delete anything). . If you wired money from a bank or used your credit cards, you will want to file with them as well.

Any why wouldn’t you start there than going to a site like City Data
That in itself is suspicious to me…

I'm sure it was a burner phone, and I'm 99% sure you'll never see your money again. Did you also support the ousted prince of Nigeria claiming his rightful inheritance in 1998?

I have report to the police and the bank but they also said that can't return the money back to me.

Could you tell me what BBB is?

Could I search somewhere for his phone number to look for his personal information? Thanks you!

He's a scammer, your money is gone. You will never find or hear from him again unfortunately. Cops can't do anything about it especially if it's online. Don't trust anyone you meet or interact online.
