:-) UTD must be a popular choice. Thanks!

Graduated from UTD. Knew tons of Indian people, from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh all the way to Kerala. Christian Mallus, Hindu Gujus and everything in between. New arrivals and 2nd/3rd generation Americans are included in this population, so it should be easy to find people that you have a lot in common with.

They had Indian frats and sororities along with a student alliance for South Asians (can't remember if it was Muslim/Hindu or Indian/Pakistan). UT Arlington is similar from what I hear so both schools are great in that regard.

Yeah a few new Indian restaurants have opened recently, but most of them are just average along with the couple of stores. Star India is a favorite in Arlington with Tandoor & India Grill been second/third unfortunately turn over in The Highlands is pretty high and India Grill didn't survive. Had Pasand last week and it wasn't very good where would you recommend.

Personally I would go with The Jackson (Viridian neighborhood), St. Andrews, The Heights or The Roosevelt/Truman if you have the budget but they're all about a 5-10 drive to UTA. The neighborhoods directly west of UTA are also pretty nice. Some of the older/smaller apartments near UTA call them self's "student housing" but are laxed on that rule and have a mixture of students and people looking for very cheap housing. Just do a lot of research if you plan on being right next to the school.

India Grill was really good when they first opened. When the owners changed the service and food quality went downhill.

What kind of Indian food do you want?

Creamy matar paneer, paneer butter masala, Bombay potato & peas, vegetable samosa/pakora, Chana masala or just a creamy chicken tikka masala. Not a large meat person.
