What neighborhoods in the DFW area are known for awesome, over-the-top, holiday light displays? I’d love to do a nighttime drive-thru of any neighborhoods that are known for a spectacular number and quality of lights. Thanks!

Old Highland Park is great although at peak times it can be crowded with cars, horse carriages, etc

Other than Highland Park, I believe that Interlochen in Arlington is known for its lights.

Deerfield is great too, but the last few years it's been really hard to navigate because of the amount of traffic and carriages. If you do go, I suggest a weekday evening either way before Christmas (like now) or after Christmas. I wouldn't go at all the week of.

Willow Bend neighborhood in Plano if you want to avoid the crowds at Deerfield.

Everybody has listed the old standards, so I'll add some:

3600 block of Southwestern Boulevard in University Park - This guy has like 1000 blow-mold Santas. It's crazy. Go mid-week or you won't be able to stop and see it.

Make a dusk or later visit to Holiday Warehouse in Plano, and then hit Independence & Biscayne - 4 houses all chained together with an over-the-top display and then Westridge & Custer - where there are 6 (and growing!) houses all chained together with lights. These both best any individual house in Deerfield or Interlochen in Arlington, but the mass number of lighted houses in those are pretty cool. Deerfield is starting to slip a bit IMO, but it's still good.

It you don't know Holiday Warehouse, it's a store that sells over the top (and pricey) Christmas stuff. It's worth a visit as much as any house is during the holidays.

Lakewood area of Dallas has some nice ones - I don't remember the streets though.

Custer Road in Richardson (Canyon Creek), north of Campbell Road is hit or miss, but the past few years more hit than miss. I'd also recommend it.

St. Andrews Drive just east of Preston in UP has some over-the-top displays.

Clearlake Drive between Boedeker and Park Lane is one of my favorite blocks.

Timberhollow Circle in Lake Highlands has 12 houses, and they do the 12 days of Christmas every year, and the rest of the neighborhood is pretty good. Look for the Grinch on the south side of Moss Trail near Arborside. Very clever!

More generally, HP (especiallywest of Preston) is going to be the biggest area with great lights.
